Why she/her fest?
She/Her Fest was created to empower, recognize, and promote art created by women identifying filmmakers. She/Her Fest is an inclusive, safe, art community. It is important to know that the festival is for EVERYONE regardless of gender! Hosted in the picturesque Pacific Northwest, She/Her Fest is an annual community gathering that you won't want to miss!
Kathryn McCarthy (she/her) created She/Her Fest to celebrate filmmakers with limited resources and a lot of heart. After filmmaking for over a decade, she recognized the need for a festival that celebrates new, independent films by women.
Our mission is to de-mystify the festival process and create an amplified opportunity for voices that may not otherwise be heard. She/Her Fest lists all of our judges in transparency so that you can know the actual faces and backgrounds of those judging your work.
